TULLUS POLLOCK IS A FAMILY OPERATED, FULL BLOOD WAGYU CATTLE BREEDING BUSINESS, ESTABLISHED IN 2006 WITH A VIEW TO PRODUCING THE VERY BEST TASTING BEEF.

This goal lead us to discuss the benefits of various breeds with different industry leaders before finally contacting David Blackmore and selecting Full Blood Wagyu. We subsequently acquired six full blood females that had the appropriate genetics (across all three primary Wagyu bloodlines) from David Blackmore’s stud.

From these original six females, we developed our herd with an aim to produce the best 300 Breeding Females by utilising the best-balanced genetics available. We believe that we have now developed a well-balanced herd of genetically diverse females that maintain the three premier Japanese Wagyu bloodlines and produce some of Australia's premium quality Wagyu beef.

OUR CATTLE

Our focus has been on the use of the three primary Japanese bloodlines to consistently improve the genetics across the herd. All Cattle have been verified via extensive DNA Testing which confirms the bloodline of the animal but also other important characteristics which we use in the development of the animal.

THREE KEY PRINCIPLES

1) Cattle Management

By managing the growth of the Cattle Numbers to ensure the attention required to the quality of each animal. The herd is also maintained by ensuring underperforming animals do not remain within the herd.

 

2) Vertical Integration/Food Security

The goal of the business (breeding and feeding) is to limit any outside involvement in the Tullus Pollock brand and thereby ensuring the security of the animals.

3)  Internal Controls/Data Analysis

A key aspect of the operation of our business is to constantly review and update the existing quality controls that are in place to safeguard the reputation of Tullus Pollock and our quality.

 

AS A LOCAL, SMALL SCALE PRODUCER, WE HAVE WORKED TIRELESSLY TO IMPLEMENT THE NECESSARY PROCESSES REQUIRED TO OFFER A PREMIUM WAGYU PRODUCT.

WE BELIEVE IN TRANSPARENCY AND SUSTAINABILITY THROUGHOUT ALL OF OUR SUPPLY.

 

NO GROWTH HORMONES, GMOs, OR ANTIBIOTICS IN FEED ARE EVER PROVIDED TO OUR ANIMALS.

In our quest to produce the best tasting beef we prefer to use a longer feeding period of approximately 600+ days. This allows the animal to be fed slowly and gradually to an age of between 28 to 30 months with our specialised ration.

The time frame and feed ration allow the Wagyu to develop its marbling quality and lets us monitor and analyse all aspects of production to ensure a consistently high-quality product. An important aspect of improving marbling without having excessive subcutaneous fat is a slow, steady daily weight gain.

Our feed regime is split into three key time periods within the animal's life cycle that allow us to monitor and target a regime for each group of cattle.

Infrastructure has been developed to allow for the development of each animal, specific to its needs.

WE ENSURE THE QUALITY AND SUSTAINABILITY OF OUR PRODUCT THROUGH SECURITY & TRACEABILITY. 

Our business has been structured to minimise any involvement by external parties and ensure there is minimal impact on our cattle.

A key part of developing our feed ration is ensuring that the feed can be sourced locally, and as such, we have changed how our cattle are fed. We have moved our cattle closer to the feed source to ensure not only the security of supply but also the quality of the feed being fed to the animals.

We ensure that we only deal with high-quality feed producers so that we know the source of the particular product, to ensure that the cattle are only eating the highest quality ration. 

 

We have received EU accreditation for the past three years and will continue to comply with the requirements so we can guarantee control over each animal.
